Dotster Hosting Review

Dotster Web HostingThe company that handles Dotster web hosting service initially offer domain name registration. This means that their first line of expertise do not stride the web hosting industry. Is this a cause of concern, especially in the case of Dotster? Not necessarily—although Dotster has a few minor setbacks which could make people think whether their plans are worth it or not. To be fair, Dotster doesn’t get an overwhelming number of bad reviews online. However, while their service efficient, some of their packages and inclusions aren’t as superb and as exciting as what the others offer. Let us look at the benefits and pitfalls of Dotster web hosting.

The first of Dotster’s services will be the first to be considered. Like most companies, Dotster offers three plan features: the basic (5.75 dollars per month), the deluxe (8.75 dollars per month), and the ultra (at 15.99 dollars per month). Now, looking at these prices, they’re actually not half bad—except when you look at the plans closely. Disk space and bandwidth for the three plans—even the most expensive plan—are limited. For the basic plan, you get a measly 10GB disk space. For deluxe, you get 100GB, while you get 200GB for the ultra. The bandwidth is just as small (at 300GB, 1,500GB, and 2,000GB) limited. You only get unlimited email accounts and number of domains for the ultra plan, so this is another blow that makes Dotster rather iffy in terms of the numbers.

In comparison, you can get unlimited email accounts, number of domains, disk space, and bandwidth for less than the price of Dotster’s deluxe plan with other web hosting service providers. With this kind of terms, why should anyone choose Dotster?

For one, their control panel is very convenient and easy to use, not to mention very effective as well. It allows you to control basically every aspect of your account, even including your domain names. Their control panel is perhaps the most intuitive in the industry. This makes Dotster perfect for beginners. Even their bandwidth and disk space sizes show that this service is most suitable for the greenhorns rather than the experts.

To be fair, Dotster does offer some special add-ons. They provide a 25 dollar Google Adwords credit for all types of plan, for one. While not the most unique, this is a feature that not all web hosting companies offer. In any case, in terms of standard features, Dotster isn’t lacking, so you won’t end up short changed. They have a toll free customer service hotline but, unlike others, it isn’t available 24 hours a day (only during office days and office hours). Obviously, this would be a problem, especially if you encounter problems during the weekend. And besides, why offer such weak customer service features when a more thorough one is much needed?

In any case, Dotster is on the dot when standard features are concerned. Beyond that, Dotster may be a little spotty. This is a service beginners will benefit much from, however.
