Lunarpages began in the business by giving free web hosting during the 90s. And then it started charging for their services. Right now, Lunarpages hosts more than 100,000 accounts and owns more than 2500 servers with data centers in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. When you compare this to other web hosting companies, these numbers are somewhat underwhelming, considering that Lunarpages has been in the business for several years. However, these numbers hardly illustrate the true capacity of this very reliable web hosting service provider. Its numbers may not be as stellar as statistics of other companies, but this doesn’t really change the fact that Lunarpages is just as reliable and efficient.

Lunarpages offers basic plan for only 6.95 dollars. This is a reasonable price, although not the cheapest. What makes up for this price, however, is the fact that with the basic package, Lunarpages procides unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space. In fact, many established corporate get web hosting for Lunarpages—a fact that proves it is a reliable web hosting service provider. Lunarpages provides the basic features for those who bought their basic packages: PHP 5, MySQL 5, Ruby on Rails 6, Python, and others. The basic package also provides a CoffeeCup software (which normally costs 700 dollars) and a CrazyEgg tracking tool, among others, of course. To be honest, the basic and additional features of Lunarpages are very basic. They are not bare, but they do not have the fancy add-ons many web hosting companies offer. They do not have free Google Adwords credit, for instance, although that’s not necessarily the most essential feature. The package does provide a free domain together with the web hosting, so that’s a beneficial plus. In any case, Lunarpages only provides the basics, the standards. In a way, this is good; you know you are paying for great service, and not a package padded with features you wouldn’t use anyway.

Many people, however, have criticized the some conservative inclusion of some scripts in the cPanel for the basic packages of Lunarpages. The cPanel offers a Fantastico script library, but it is a common complaint that it does not include some important scripts. It is easy to download scripts for this, but it would have been nice if Lunarpages offers this from the get-go. Luckily, the scripts include Francisco were current, so you wouldn’t have to worry about that, at least.

Their customer service is also sufficient. You can even e-mail or call them regarding scripts not included on your cPanel, for instance. As with most companies, they offer a 24 hour customer service hotline. Many customers are quite satisfied with the speed of their email responses, for one. And while there is a short waiting time when you call their 24/7 toll free hotline, it isn’t too long, especially when compared to the others.

Lunarpages isn’t the fanciest web hosting service provider out there, but it is sufficienct. With unlimited bandwidth and disk space, Lunarpages’ basic plan is good enough; their service is good, in addition, and their add-ons are sufficient. Lunarpages may not be stellar, but it’s almost there.
